A scrumptious Diwali snack savoured not just during Diwali, but throughout the year!
Poha Chivda is a mouth-watering Diwali snack enjoyed by many. Packed full of flavour this Diwali faral is made using roasted flattened rice and will become your all-time favourite savoury snack.
Not only enjoyed during Diwali but this Chivda is loved and eaten by millions throughout the year as a tea time snack.
Roasting is everything - patience pays
Make sure to roast flattened rice (Poha) properly for that authentic crispy texture. Roasting flattened rice (Poha) takes time and patience. Roast on high heat and it will be overdone and get burnt and don't roast it long enough and Chivda will become chewy. So roasting flattened rice (Poha) properly is the most important step of making a good Chivda.
"Customise to suit your palate"
You can increase or decrease the amount of cashew nuts, raisins / sultanas and peanuts as per your liking. Also, if you fancy you can add dried coconut chips and split roasted gram (Daria Dal) to your Chivda.
You can increase or decrease the number of green chillies as well to make Chivda more or less spicy.
Let it cool down
Before you eat Chivda, let it cool down completely. It's colour and texture will change after it cools down.
Also, let it completely cool down before storing or else it will lose its crispiness. Make sure to store in an air-tight container to keep it fresh for longer.
